The National Youth Service Corps is a program instituted
by the Nigerian Government which is compulsory for every
Nigerian graduate to help them impact and serve the country
(Nigeria) for a year. It is quite an exciting time as it affords Nigerians who are from different areas in the country to know and live in different areas where they have not been to. Well, my own experience in this program is quite interesting as I got to the camp on the 7th of March 2007. Just like every other corps member, I had to go through the rigorous process of registration process, after which I slept outside with other corps member who were through about 2pm the next day. I was quite fortunate to have a couple of my classmates over there with me at the camp. Well, the camp experience was quite a rigorous one. Marked with so much parading and Man'O War activities . . . of which I dodged almost all.The endurance trekking which was required for us to walk for over 6 kilometres! What! I dodged it also and spent the time to go to the state capital to spy it out. |
